The process of domain registration
If you want to purchase your own domain over the web, then you have to register the domain name with the domain registrars or the web space providers. The domain registrars are the web space or domain providers who have the authorization of selling the domains to the general public. Unless and until you register the domain name with them, you can never open your own web site over the net. The process of domain registration is very simple. What you need is a computer, a credit card, using which you have to make the payment and also internet connection.
At first, visit the web site of InterNIC. After logging in to the web site, you can find the list of all domain providers or web space providers, better known as domain registrars who are available to sell web domains over the net. Select one such registrar’s link and click on it. You will be immediately redirected to the web site of the registrar with out haste!
After visiting the official registrar online, provide the unique name that you have thought you would give to your web site. Take a quick glance at the name and word limit specifications given over there. After giving the name, you have to select the domain extension. Some extensions are top-level extensions and they are not allowed for use of the ordinary public. For example, .gov and .edu which are reserved for any government and educational web site respectively. You can select from the list of other domain extensions like .com or .net and even .org etc.
Then go for the search option to check that the web site domain name already exists or not. If the name already exists then you will be immediately notified of the fact and you can then change the name or only change the extension name.
As soon as you have finished with the name, buy the domain using your credit card as always and feel free to use you very own domain over the internet.
